My name is Mindy. I am 26 years old, 5’7’ and already have half a head of WHITE hairs (which I color regularly of course). I am the mom of a spunky three-year-old girl and an adventurous one-year-old son.
Although exercising is a passion of mine, morning sickness made it impossible to do during the first trimesters of my pregnancies. Throughout my second pregnancy I gained about 50 pounds, tipping the scales at just over 200 pounds before delivering. I dreaded my pregnancy checkups where I’d hear I was too heavy. (Honestly, not the smartest thing to tell a preggie mommy she’s FAT!) After recovering from my C-section I used Lindsay Brin’s Postnatal Boot Camp to lose all but 4 pounds of that baby weight. When I learned about the Shed 5 Fast Contest I knew this could give me the motivation I needed to lose those last clingy pounds.
The Shed 5 Fast DVD, and the Core Firing Sequence Method DVD challenged me in ways I’d never been challenged before. But I came to love pushing myself—I was sore in new areas and excited for each workout. By the end I not only lost 6 pounds, but I felt more confident in my image and my abilities.
When my husband saw me preparing for the contest, he established his own 6 week program, to do along with me. Of course, this appealed to my competitive side, and I worked even harder. Exercising together not only helped us lose weight, but it helped us grow even closer together in our relationship.
During the fourth week, I accompanied my husband on a business trip for a week of relaxation and eating out 3 times a day. I was really worried about how this would affect my results, however with careful choices I was able to lose a pound even during this week of constantly eating out.
Through the 6 week program, I went from 154 pounds to 148 pounds. I also lost 4 ½ inches and can finally fit into all my pre-mommy clothes! I feel so good after doing this that my husband and I have continued exercising together and encouraging each other to push even harder. (I can’t wait for my next pregnancy when I get to walk into the doctor’s office and show her I’m more fit than ever!) Now, as a result of the Shed 5 Fast contest I feel good about my body and about who I am.
